Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Anti Aging Medicine Symposium Features New Developments in the Science of Stem Cells and Fat Grafting
NEW YORK, March 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2nd Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Anti Aging Medicine: The Next Generation Symposium will be held at the Waldorf Astoria in New York on June 10-12, 2011. This three day interactive symposium will focus on the evolving spectrum of regenerative medicine, the science of stem cells, and fat grafting applications of the face, breasts and body. The multidisciplinary faculty includes plastic surgeons Drs. Sydney Coleman and J. Peter Rubin, among others.
"We are delighted to have such a distinguished faculty who are recognized as leaders in regenerative medicine and have made significant contributions to advancing the evolving field of adult stem cell research," said Course Chairman Z. Paul Lorenc, M.D.
This groundbreaking symposium will feature the emerging areas of interest to plastic surgeons, dermatologists, facial plastic surgeons, oculoplastic surgeons and other specialists; fat grafting best practices, aesthetic and reconstructive breast applications, body contouring, and other aesthetic indications.
According to Sydney Coleman, M.D., "When I began transplanting fat twenty-four years ago, I noticed an interesting development. The quality of my patients' skin overlying the areas I had grafted improved dramatically over time. I observed decreased wrinkling, smaller pores and improved color and tone. We now know that there is a high concentration of stem cells in fat. So, with each fat transfer, stem cells that can potentially repair aging and sun damaged skin are transplanted as well. We are now looking into how to maximize that extraordinary effect."
The roster of leading corporations that have offered educational grants for the symposium includes Allergan, Ellman International, Ethicon/Mentor, Jan Marini Skin Research, Medicis, Merz Aesthetics, Nextech, Nordson Corp., Palomar Medical, Sanofi Aventis, Sciton, Skinmedica, and Suneva Medical.
On June 9, a media breakfast will be held from 9-11 AM at the Waldorf Astoria to kick off the conference featuring a panel of leading aesthetic surgeons presenting on key trends and clinical research developments in the field of aesthetic medicine and surgery. Drs. Z Paul Lorenc, Sydney Coleman and David Goldberg shall be featured along with Wendy Lewis who will moderate the panel.
