AES ELETROPAULO Records Net Income of R$ 255.4 Million

SAO PAULO, Aug. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Eletropaulo Metropolitana Eletricidade de Sao Paulo S.A. (BM&FBovespa: ELPL3, ELPL4; OTC: EPUMY and ELPSY), announced today its results for 2Q11.

In 2Q11, the captive market in the concession area of AES Eletropaulo grew by 2.7% to 9,138 Gwh, mainly due to the positive performance in the residential and commercial classes. Free clients grew by 4.9%, contributing for 3.1% increase in the total market.

The Company's results were positively affected by market performance and the tariff adjustment of July 2010. Accordingly, net revenues grew by 2.9% year-on-year. On the other hand, EBITDA and net income had a downturn in 2Q11, considering that 2Q10 had been positively impacted by non-recurring items related to the sale of AES Eletropaulo Telecom to Brasiliana, in addition to the agreement conclusion regarding the bankruptcy estate of Banco Santos. If those effects were excluded, EBITDA and net income would have increased by 4.1% and 6.2%, respectively.

The Company's investments totaled R$ 158.7 million in 2Q11, 21.4% higher than in 2Q10. This effort is reflected on the continuous improvements involving operating indicators.

As a subsequent event, the National Agency of Electric Energy (Aneel) maintained AES Eletropaulo's tariff unchanged, since the methodology regarding 3rd cycle reset has not yet been determined.

On August 10, 2011, the Board of Directors approved the Executive Board's proposal for dividend distribution in the amount of R$ 291.0 million, equivalent to 50% of the dividend base.
