Advanced ICU Care Launches Tele-ICU Clinical Services with Baptist Health Corbin
Collaborative Partnership Provides 24/7 Intensivist Support for the Hospital's ICU Patients
ST. LOUIS, Sept. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced ICU Care, the nation's leading provider of high-acuity telemedicine services, announced today the launch of tele-ICU clinical services at Baptist Health Corbin, a Baptist Health System hospital based in Kentucky. The collaborative critical care partnership will provide Baptist Health Corbin with additional deep clinical, operational, and technical expertise through Advanced ICU Care's cutting edge tele-technology and U.S. board-certified intensivists, ensuring 24/7 intensivist oversight of the hospital's ICU patients.
For Baptist Health Corbin, being able to optimize the delivery of critical care and treat even the most acute patients locally was of significant importance. Working with Advanced ICU Care's intensivist-led clinical teams, the medical center's onsite intensivist and ICU staff will now benefit from additional collaboration and support as they work together to provide the highest level of care to ICU patients. A secure data stream of patient information and two-way audio-video capabilities enable Advanced ICU Care's remote care teams of intensivists, advanced practice providers, and nurses to actively engage in patient care. The constant monitoring and joint coordination between providers and the hospital's staff ensures 24/7 care by critical care specialists of the facility's most critical population.
"While evaluating our ICU's continued commitment to delivering high quality care, we knew that finding a solution that could offer around the clock intensivist support would be of significant value to the hospital, our onsite intensivist, and most importantly, our patients," said Dr. David Worthy, Chief Medical Officer, Baptist Health Corbin. "After careful consideration and review of the Advanced ICU Care offering, it became apparent that their clinical services were the perfect complement in providing critical care at our own facility, allowing us to keep care in the community."
Baptist Health Corbin is part of Baptist Health System based out of Louisville, Kentucky, and is the first of its eight main hospitals to launch a tele-ICU offering with Advanced ICU Care. The health system had explored the value proposition of remote intensivist care and after careful consideration, chose to partner with Advanced ICU Care rather than build its own solution. Baptist Health Corbin was then selected as the first hospital in the health system to launch tele-ICU clinical services in partnership with Advanced ICU Care.
"By supporting the work of Baptist Health Corbin's bedside intensivist, we help the hospital provide patients and their families access to the highest quality critical care in their own community," said Lou Silverman, CEO of Advanced ICU Care. "We are honored that Baptist Health Corbin and Baptist Health System have identified the value that Advanced ICU Care brings to care teams and our mutual patients by delivering uninterrupted intensivist support."
Advanced ICU Care currently provides care to more than 65 hospitals in 24 states on a 24 x 7 x 365 basis. The company currently has eight dedicated tele-care delivery centers across the United States.
