Advanced Air Offers Whole House Performance Evaluations
FORT MYERS, Fla., July 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Air and Refrigeration, a Fort Myers, Florida based firm offering air conditioning and installation services, is now offering Whole House Performance Evaluations for residential customers.
In order to provide this new service, members of the Advanced Air team received the Building Performance Institute (BPI) Certification for Building Energy Analysis/Auditor. The certification means that Advanced Air can now perform thorough evaluations of the entire homes' comfort systems to determine any problems that may affect the indoor living environment. Advanced Air is the only company in Southwest Florida to have earned this designation, and only one of three in the entire state.
According to Bill Blaze, president of Advanced Air and Refrigeration, research consistently finds that over 90 percent of installations have energy wasting and discomfort causing mistakes. "Many people turn to air conditioning contractors to solve problems such as comfort, humidity control and moisture on ducts, air handlers and diffusers," he said. "Sadly, most contractors are only interested in 'changing the box' and aren't looking at the entire structure."
Companies often claim that a bigger unit will make the home more comfortable. Duct cleaners promise their service and a new air filter will solve dust and allergy problems and window companies claim problems can be solved with new windows. This approach usually leads to dissatisfaction – excess dust doesn't diminish, rooms are still uncomfortable and musty odors or mold returns.
The real solution is taking the time and having the ability to perform a "whole house performance evaluation." This allows the company to fully examine the home to determine what may need to change. Blaze says his company will perform the necessary equipment and insulation inspection, air leakage evaluation and air flow diagnosis in order to provide total comfort solutions.
The cause of problem areas can be greatly reduced by increasing house insulation, finding and sealing thermal bypasses and adding attic radiant barriers. Combined with improvements such as duct sealing, added returns, new ducting, zoning and air balancing, problems can almost always be solved. Recessed lights, chimneys and/or attics often cause air leakage in the home. Lights can be sealed and blown-in insulation can be installed where insulation is missing or leaking.
Whole House Performance Evaluations are currently being offered at $149 (a $300 value) for a limited time. The evaluation can take from one to three hours and includes a thorough test to ensure the true cause of whatever problems you may be experiencing within the home.
