Ford, who took ownership of the center in May 2014, works to make sure his clients get the best deal for their vehicles. Ford's wife's family has owned the land where the center is located, at the crossroads of State Highways 25 and 91 (some 27 miles southwest of Cape Girardeau), since the 1950s.

The land has been utilized for several business ventures, from an auto body shop to a mobile home park. The current building structure has been in place for 20 years after the original one burned down in 1985. Ford, who has worked as a carpenter, was recently given the opportunity to turn the property into whatever he wanted after his mother-in-law inherited the land.

With the next closest U-Haul dealer 20-plus miles, partnering with the leader in do-it-yourself moving and self-storage was a no-brainer for Ford. The citizens of Advance and surrounding towns have been very receptive with the convenience having moving equipment nearby.
