ADI and Parascript Partnership Provides Data Quality Assurance for the 2010 Census
-- U.S. Census Bureau uses ADI's test system, integrated with Parascript's FormXtra, to determine data quality --
ROCHESTER, N.Y., and BOULDER, Colo., July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Document Imaging, LLC and Parascript, LLC today announced that their integrated technologies were successfully used to perform quality assurance testing for the U.S. Census Bureau for electronic data capture in the 2010 Census. The ADI and Parascript partnership helps the Census Bureau to ensure the highest level of accuracy of important data gleaned from census forms. In particular, the solution delivers a cost-effective and high-quality assurance program that validates the accuracy of the census data capture process.
ADI developed the Production Data Quality (PDQ) test system that was used to independently evaluate data capture production output quality from the prime contractor by sampling almost a million forms and reporting the results to the Census Bureau. This test system uses Parascript's FormXtra® and ADI's special patent-pending algorithms to cost-effectively determine the truth of production data, which is then used for scoring.
"Working with the U.S. Census Bureau for over 16 years, we have developed a powerful software tool to quickly accomplish the difficult, costly, and time-consuming task of testing the quality of production data with very high precision and at a low cost," said K. Bradley Paxton, Ph.D., CEO for ADI, LLC. "Our partnership with Parascript has proven invaluable in completing this task."
"We are honored to work with ADI to make our recognition technology available to all those who benefit from reduced processing times and cost savings, especially in such important applications as the 2010 Census," said Brian Ball, vice president for Parascript.
Parascript's FormXtra combines the power of its best-of-breed recognition software with a form definition module that helps integrators easily identify fields on forms, tune form definition for improved recognition accuracy, and define the format of extracted data. FormXtra recognizes constrained and unconstrained hand print, machine print, and natural handwriting, reducing reliance on manual keying and cutting processing cycle times.
ADI has been consulting for the Census Bureau since 1993, and was instrumental in guiding the Bureau to use digital electronic imaging and computer automation for the first time to process the 2000 Census. The company helped the Bureau with requirements, system studies, special test materials, data analysis, form designs, printing technology, electronic data capture, and data quality evaluation.
ADI's patent-pending test technologies in Digital Test Decks® and Dynamic Data Generation™ were used extensively over the last seven years during the development of the Decennial Response Integration System (DRIS), which became the production system used for data capture from over 150 million questionnaires in 2010.
