Adele Garners Six Grammy® Award Nominations
NEW YORK, Dec. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Adele earns an impressive six GRAMMY® Award Nominations for her hugely successful sophomore album 21. Adele has been nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Short Form Music Video. Nominations for the 54th Annual GRAMMY® Awards were announced earlier tonight by The Recording Academy® at a ceremony in Los Angeles.

Adele's sophomore album 21 is the biggest selling album of 2011 with over 13 million units sold worldwide. 21 spent 39 consecutive weeks in the top 5 of Billboard Top Albums chart since it's release in February, the most weeks by any artist in the chart's 55 year history. According to Billboard, "It surpasses Michael Jackson's "Bad," which racked 38 straight frames in the top five following its bow at No. 1 on Sept. 27, 1987." This week in New York, Adele was presented with a plaque commemorating 5 million albums and 11 million singles sold in the U.S. (See attached).
