Acquisition Signed by Drs. Lisa M. Cohen & Terence J. Harrist to Purchase StrataDx, a Leading Independent Anatomic Pathology Laboratory in New England
LEXINGTON, Mass., Oct. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Headquartered in Lexington, Massachusetts, Strata offers Anatomic Pathology services in the Dermatology, Urology, Podiatry, Oral Pathology, Gastroenterology and Gynecology segments. Since 1984, the company has developed proprietary knowledge, expertise and strong client relationships, and has established itself as a thought leader in the Dermatopathology space.
Today marks the launch of one of the few U.S. physician-owned and operated Anatomic Pathology sub-specialty laboratories serving clients in more than 40 states with a focus on the New England and Northeast regions of the United States.
The newly acquired Strata/WLA Holding Corporation will focus on being the premier institute, delivering precise, highly specific reports and unsurpassed customer service. With the numerous and complex issues facing U.S. healthcare today, the new Strata has been created on a foundation of five primary offerings: diagnoses physicians and patients can trust, professionally engaged customer service, a highly efficient technical laboratory, technology solutions, and rapid result turn around time. Strata is committed to its clinical partners with significant investments in tools and technologies that support the efficient and effective delivery of results. To augment these pillars, Strata will continue to be committed to philanthropic endeavors and teaching. Dr. Cohen is a member of the Dermatology Foundation's Annenberg Circle, as well as a member of the Melanoma Foundation of New England Board of Directors and the Chair of its Shades of Hope charity fundraiser. Strata physicians mentor Dermatology and Pathology residents from around the country and continue to offer the Dermatology annual board review course.
The new venture has been founded by industry veterans Lisa M. Cohen MD, the founder of Cohen Dermatopathology, PC, and Terence J. Harrist MD, the founder of Pathology Services Incorporated. Drs. Cohen and Harrist are both highly respected in the Dermatopathology community for their diagnostic, customer service, and organizational excellence. Dr. Beatriz Tapia-Centola will serve as the Medical Director; Ana-Maria Jojatu will serve as Laboratory Director; Jerry Franzella will serve as Chief Information Officer; Robin Feeney will serve as Chief Financial Officer; and George Rosa will serve as Vice President of Operations of the new StrataDx.
"We are quickly approaching a tipping point with regard to sub-specialty Anatomic Pathology laboratories," said Dr. Cohen. "Large corporate and financially leveraged laboratories are operating in an environment of reduced reimbursement, and they are not positioned to deliver high quality diagnoses. It is simply not good enough to only offer technology solutions to your customers. The future is a progressive and forward-thinking independent physician-owned and operated U.S. laboratory with diagnoses on which physicians and patients can depend - as it should be. Today's most successful organizations recognize that employees are their most valuable asset when it comes to generating long-term growth and value. The attraction, retention and development of Strata's employees are paramount to our success."
