ABC Kitchen Celebrates Winning James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant
NEW YORK, May 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ABC Kitchen tonight celebrated being named Best New Restaurant of 2011 by the James Beard Foundation. ABC Kitchen offers casually elegant farm-to-table dining, and was born out of a shared vision by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, restaurateur Phil Suarez, and ABC Home CEO & Creative Director Paulette Cole.
"In this dynamic collaboration, I knew we were creating something truly unique," said Jean-Georges Vongerichten, chef and co-creator of ABC Kitchen. "To have our collective vision realized, and the work of chef Daniel Kluger recognized by the James Beard Foundation, is an honor. Artful design and exquisite, locally sourced food should go hand-in-hand, and it is a privilege to be part of this winning union."
ABC Kitchen presents a changing menu of organically focused cuisine in a fresh space. ABC Kitchen has gone to great lengths to be sustainable, local, and organic – from the decor to the food. The restaurant, which was designed by the ABC Home creative team, has committed to source 70% of the menu from within 90 miles of the restaurant between May and October. Chef Daniel Kluger often makes sure he is able to exceed expectations, with a thriving 85% of the food locally sourced.
"ABC Kitchen has been an inspiring example of collective creativity. We aspired to create a feast for all of our senses," said Paulette Cole, CEO & Creative Director of ABC Home. "Jean-Georges is compellingly gifted, and is the ultimate steward to mentor organic farm-to-table to help serve in creating a tipping point for a critical mass."
