AAM's Three Rivers Manufacturing Facility Named a Top 10 Manufacturing Plant in North America by IndustryWeek Magazine
DETROIT, Dec. 22, 2010, /PRNewswire/ -- American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings, Inc. (AAM), which is traded as AXL on the NYSE, today announced that its Three Rivers Manufacturing Facility has been recognized as one of the 10 best plants in North America by IndustryWeek magazine for 2010.
IndustryWeek's Best Plants competition recognizes North American manufacturing facilities that foster productive and competitive work environments and optimize customer satisfaction. The Three Rivers Manufacturing Facility is among 10 winners selected from 20 finalists. Award finalists were chosen from several hundred applicants through a rigorous selection process and an on-site validation.
AAM's Three Rivers Manufacturing Facility was recognized for driving home the benefits of market cost competitiveness and productivity initiatives. The AAM Manufacturing System, which focuses on lean manufacturing techniques to identify and eliminate waste, and associate involvement were noted as key enablers for the plant to be awarded new business.

The Three Rivers Manufacturing Facility is located in Three Rivers, Michigan, approximately 30 miles south of Kalamazoo and employs more than 700 associates. As AAM's largest manufacturing facility in the United States, it currently operates at Six Sigma quality performance (< 3.4 PPM) and produces driveline systems and components for the light and commercial vehicle markets.
