Chu are just some of the stars who will be attending MIPTV 2011, which runs 4-7 April in Cannes.
For the first time in eight years – and having just announced his movie comeback – Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back in Cannes, taking part in MIPTV. He will unveil an international TV series, full details of which he will reveal in a press conference on 4 April at the Hotel Majestic, at noon.*
Joseph Fiennes (Elizabeth, Shakespeare in Love), Eva Green (Kingdom of Heaven, Casino Royale) and Jamie Campbell Bower (Sweeney Todd, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Twilight New Moon) all star in the eagerly-awaited Camelot, a new version of the legendary adventures of King Arthur, which will be presented by GK-tv at the MIPTV World Premiere TV Screenings. The first two episodes of the series will be screened in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals, on 4 April at 6pm, followed by an exclusive Q&A session with the stars. A Camelot press conference will be held on 4 April, in the Blue Lounge of the Palais des Festivals, at 3pm.
Shawn Doyle (Big Love, Medium, The Eleventh Hour) will attend MIPTV to promote the new Canadian series Endgame, distributed internationally by Endemol Worldwide Distribution. Doyle plays a Russian chess world champion who uses his extraordinary talents of judgement and strategic thinking to solve criminal mysteries.
Also present at MIPTV and brought by Beta Film is the international cast of the much talked about new co-production series Borgia, the 12 x 52' dramatic series that chronicles the rise to power of the Catalan Cardinal and his clan during the Renaissance. German Oscar nominated director Oliver Hirschbiegel (Downfall), actors John Doman (USA - The Wire, Damages), Assumpta Serna (Spain - Matador, The Fencing Master), Andrea Sawatzki (Germany - The Experiment), Marta Gastini (Italy - The Rite, Il bene e il male), Stanley Weber (France), Isolda Dychauk (Germany) and Mark Ryder (GB) will all attend MIPTV.
The stars of the BBC's hit series Torchwood John Barrowman (Desperate Housewives, Doctor Who) and Bill Pullman (Lost Highway, Independence Day, The End of Violence) will be in Cannes during MIPTV, as season 4 of the adventures of 51st century Captain Jack Harkness will air in 2011.
Jon M. Chu, the outstanding director and executive producer of the Step Up dance franchise and creator of the web series The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers, will receive the Pioneer Prize at the International Digital Emmy® Awards, on 4 April. This special prize is being presented to him for his contribution to promoting and redefining quality in digital online entertainment.
The red carpet will be rolled out in front of the Carlton to welcome the stars and VIP guests at the MIPTV Opening Cocktail on 4 April from 7.45pm, and for the International Digital Emmy® Awards ceremony which begins at 8.45pm. Joseph Fiennes, Jamie Campbell Bower and Shawn Doyle will each present an award during the event.
Finally, the young, muscular males from reality-TV show The Hunks will be strutting their stuff in Cannes. International distributor Beyond Distribution will present these men, whose every move is captured on camera 24/7, and whose lives are followed by their fans, as they work together, compete with each other and reveal their attitudes towards women.
The times and locations for all these events can be found on the MIPTV events calendar.
