Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Pushes Five-Year Plan Forward
KUWAIT, Feb. 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Recent legislation passed in Kuwait's Parliament mark a new era of cooperation between the two branches of government. A new sense of national unity has appeared in Kuwait with recent approval of a comprehensive development plan that will boost power and oil production as well as initiate new infrastructure projects. As a result, Kuwait will emerge in the coming years as a regional powerhouse.
His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah has overseen the design and pushed for the ratification of the Five-Year Plan, so named because it will commence this year and continue through 2015. Last week Parliament took the first steps to realizing Prime Minister Nasser's vision by passing the $104 billion development package, the first of its kind in decades.
Kuwait's bankers and analysts see the Five-Year Plan as financially sound and have stressed the impact that funding will have on easing stresses in health care, electricity supply and infrastructure, especially roads and bridges. Kuwaitis and expatriates have noted their satisfaction with Prime Minister Nasser's stewardship of the economy while in office and see this plan as potentially his crowning achievement as premier.
Despite a worldwide financial crisis, Kuwait is poised to implement the long-awaited goals of progress in the Arab Nation. Many believe that a new spirit of cooperation and policymaking has already taken hold in Kuwait. Prime Minister Nasser has made it clear that he will make sure MPs "walk the walk, not just talk the talk." He has urged parliament to aggressively begin implementing the Five-Year Plan to ensure that development proceeds on schedule.
