91.1 The Avenue Now Seeing a 90% Increase in Population Coverage, to Reach a Million Hearts and Build a Community of Generosity
Nonprofit, community radio station has increased signal power from 3,000 to 42,000 Watts to expand nonprofit mission and music reach.
GREEN BAY, Wis., Feb. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- 91.1 The Avenue, a nonprofit, community radio station in Northeast Wisconsin today announced they have increased their signal power from 3,000 to 42,000 watts. This will allow the radio station to serve even more nonprofits in their mission to Build a Community of Generosity, as the voice and presence for the nonprofit community.
With a reinvigorated mission to now reach a million hearts because of the signal increase, The Avenue will be able to help even more nonprofits in Northeast Wisconsin with Community Impact Grants, geared to giving nonprofits free messaging on the airwaves and at AvenueRadio.com. The mission serves many nonprofits that have little or no budget to create awareness for their fundraisers and cause in general. Community Impact Grants allow nonprofits to reach far more people than they could on their own.
This 90% increase in population coverage in the primary signal area will better serve the communities of Northeast Wisconsin from north of Green Bay, through Sturgeon Bay, down through the Fox Cities and Manitowoc, and Oshkosh and Fond du Lac. Listener support and demand for a stronger signal were key in helping The Avenue to expand the signal.
In 2013 The Avenue provided Community Impact Grants to over 80 nonprofits in excess of $700,000. This was made possible because of listener and corporate support. With the expanded signal, The Avenue hopes to increase Community Impact Grants to area nonprofits in 2014.
With a hand-picked music mix of music from artists like the Beatles to The Civil Wars, Steely Dan to Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell to Adele, Mumford and Sons to Cory Chisel, to local and national Indie artists, along with the fact that The Avenue is a nonprofit community radio station, the increase in power is a welcome addition to an even greater number of listeners and nonprofits throughout Northeast Wisconsin.
