62-Year-Old Elie Hirschfeld Completes Inaugural Ironman U.S. Championship in NYC

NEW YORK, Aug. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Real estate developer Elie Hirschfeld celebrated this weekend after completing the 140.6-mile race, the 2012 Ironman U.S. Championship in New York City, in 14 hours, 22 minutes, 29 seconds (14:22:29). The race featured a 2.4-mile swim in the Hudson River; a 112-mile bike ride on the Palisades Parkway; and a 26.2-mile run beginning in New Jersey, crossing over the George Washington Bridge, and finishing in Riverside Park in Manhattan.

"Completing the NYC Ironman was one of the most amazing experiences of my life – so much energy, focus and I was so determined. I am proud, and I feel absolutely great today with nothing bothering me but a sun burn on my wrist on small gap between bike glove and my long sleeve (sun protection) bike shirt. This event will only grow, and there was nothing like competing in the inaugural Ironman American championship as a New Yorker," said Elie Hirschfeld.

Elie Hirschfeld, 62 years old, has completed over 75 triathlons as well as many rigorous sports activities – including the Israman Ironman Triathlon, the Mooseman N.H. Half Ironman, the NYC Marathon, the Paris France Triathlon, the Brooklyn Bridge East River Swim and the Top of Rock Center Run Up.

Elie Hirschfeld is a New Yorker with many passions and interests. As a real estate developer, his projects include the Hotel Pennsylvania, the Crowne Plaza Hotel and Park Avenue Court.
