ATLANTA, Dec. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- AirWatch® by VMware®, the leading enterprise mobility management (EMM) provider, announced today that most companies plan to choose AirWatch for mobile device management (MDM) in 2015, according to 451 Research's in-depth survey of 217 IT professionals and decision makers. AirWatch received at least twice the number of selections as the next closest competitor for planned MDM vendor in 2015. 451 Research also revealed most IT decision makers used AirWatch in 2014, superseding last year's expectation that MobileIron would be the most selected vendor.

451 Research found AirWatch to be the leading choice for IT decision makers over other vendors in 2014 and 2015. According to the research, "the lead in-plan vendor for mobile device management (MDM) in 2013, MobileIron, gave way to VMware in 2014, fresh of its acquisition of AirWatch." The report also noted that respondents plan to spend 31 percent more on MDM in 2015 than 2014, tying for first in increased spending among 42 technologies assessed.
"The research results demonstrate what we anticipated when VMware acquired AirWatch and bridged together two industry leaders and innovators," said John Marshall, senior vice president and general manager, AirWatch by VMware. "Since the acquisition we have focused on the right balance of integration and innovation for our solutions, and we are confident that we will continue to meet the changing needs that drive business mobility."
451 Research leveraged TheInfoPro's methodology for the survey, which includes an extensive interview with a proprietary network of IT professionals and key decision makers at large and midsize enterprises. Each interview explores several fundamental areas, including the implementation and spending plans for technologies. The report was written by Daniel Kennedy, research director for enterprise networking and information security, 451 Research and published in December 2014.
"Our research revealed that VMware, based on the AirWatch business, is the leading choice of MDM vendors among IT decision makers in 2014 and is expected to continue to be in 2015," said Kennedy. "With spending on MDM expected to increase in 2015, and buoyed by the resources and complementary technologies of VMware, we expect to see AirWatch continue to be very much in focus for IT decision makers."
