42BELOW Vodka Salutes New Zealand Football On A Job Well Done
New Zealand Vodka Brand Provides Insight on South Africa and a few Cocktails to Help Celebrate
MIAMI, July 2 /PRNewswire/ -- In honor of New Zealand's first foray into the World's largest soccer tournament since 1982, 42BELOW Vodka planned a large victory parade for the Kiwi team. However, reality has set in and delusions of grandeur have faded. All is not lost though, as they did have a strong showing and represented the country of New Zealand well.
We did learn something these past few weeks about football, ourselves and the other land down under.
42BELOW Vodka presents "Drawing on Experience" 42 Things We Learned from the Tournament:
- New Zealand dominates rugby, draws at football.
- Getting carded is tough, but necessary...especially if you want to drink 42BELOW vodka.
- Our drinks are infused with natural flavors; our players are infused with natural talent. They smell very different.
- Questionable calls can be made on the field of play and late night to friends.
- There's a remote place where vuvuzela fanatics can blow their own horn.
- Drinking and football don't mix, at least not while you are on the pitch.
- Although we have both been eliminated, we are still better than the Aussies.
- Ambush marketing with beautiful women at matches is a crime, skateboarding is not.
- All that flopping reminded us of the sun-bathing seals in Milford Sound.
- Cry, but don't sob. Crying makes you seem sensitive, but sobbing is just weak sauce, mate.
- When all else fails, fall down, grab your ankle and pout until you get your way.
- You can fit the population of New Zealanders living in the U.S. into one stadium, we tried.
- 4-4-2 formation does not mean four bottles of 42BELOW vodka for forty-two people.
- We've created a drink – the vuvuzela – that gives off the best type of buzz.
- We may have more sheep than citizens, but we are not that "baaaaa-d" at football.
- South Africa has taught us about putting aside our differences and coming together for a larger good, unless they disagree with us of course.
- Now to where New Zealand really shines: the 42BELOW Cocktail World Cup 2011.
- The "elephant in the room," was actually an elephant in the room at one point.
- Don't get caught with a handball in public.
- Make sure you take your cup with you. Nobody wants to pick that thing up.
- Wash your socks. No matter what anyone tells you, not washing your socks is not lucky.
- Paraguay is not two of anything.
- Next time we're hiring the All Blacks to train the All Whites. We may not score a goal, but we're pretty sure the other team won't either!
- Soccer players are more than just men in shorts - ladies; you might want to get to know them on the inside.
- The tournament mascot is an anthropomorphized leopard with green hair named, Zakumi. That's not weird at all.
- Hype is something we won't have to live up to.
- Eleven languages in South Africa, eleven ways to say "the most awarded vodka."
- Zebras know how to party.
- The most beautiful game met the second most beautiful country (behind New Zealand) and they fell in love.
- Slovakia is not a dish. Out of respect for our opponent, it is now banned from all Kiwi menus.
- For being from the Cradle of Humanity, you'd expect their soccer skills to be more evolved.
- Pure gamesmanship meets pure vodka on the playing field of life, who wins?
- Scoring isn't everything. It's the only thing.
- We are a proud nation and sometimes we can accept a tie, especially when it is with your entire group.
- The game on Safaris is way more intense than the games on Atari.
- Don't mess with governing bodies of sport, just sporting bodies of government.
- The French and Italians were also sent home early, so in the global community our teams are now equal.
- We can compete in the Southern Hemisphere, so let's buy our tickets now for 2014.
- Is it safe to say we had the best legs in the tournament? Yes, yes it is.
- Why haven't we tried this hard before? We kind of like this game!
- When you're on the bottom (geographically of course), everything is up.
- Let's raise our glasses in celebration and cheer the global community on a Tournament for the ages.
Drink Recipes
The 42BELOW Vodka professor, Raj Nagra, couldn't let this opportunity pass to create a few new signature cocktails in honor of the New Zealand squad.
"I can't remember the last time these guys made the tournament, so I may or may not be retired by the time they get there again," said Raj Nagra, 42BELOW Brand Ambassador and Vodka Professor. "Let's celebrate history by writing a little of our own."
On behalf of 42BELOW vodka, Raj would like to share the following recipes for a football party near you, so prepare yourself to score in the friends category.
'Extra Time' Punch |
|
If Americans know anything about football, it's that it usually ends in a draw. Fortunately, most of the tournament is knockout rounds, forcing a result through extra time, so hopefully this punch will last your team through the match. |

Whether you love or hate the sound of buzzing bees created by the vuvuzela, you're sure to enjoy this warm and spicy drink made with 42BELOW Manuka Honey Flavored Vodka. |
