3PL Provider LeSaint Logistics Partners With Life Fitness Taking Their Parts Business to the Next Level
ROMEOVILLE, Ill., April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Helping to keep treadmills, elliptical cross-trainers, exercise bikes and other fitness systems up and running – both literally and figuratively – LeSaint Logistics, a 3PL provider headquartered near Chicago, has contracted with exercise equipment manufacturer Life Fitness to manage the company's parts business on a global level, from warehousing to fulfillment to transportation.
By teaming with LeSaint Logistics, Life Fitness is able to ensure the constant and timely delivery of parts to repair professionals who service fitness facilities as well as those repair professionals who work directly for fitness facilities and retailers that sell Life Fitness equipment. "LeSaint has the right locations, is a good size fit with our organization, has the technology component in place to run our inventory – backed by its industry leading, overall logistics knowledge," said Michael Cusack, vice president of customer support for Life Fitness.
According to Cusack, parts, warehousing and fulfillment functions were previously done in-house at Life Fitness, but the company was looking for more efficient ways to employ the latest inventory technology, ensure consistent operations and best utilize its staffing and space to better serve customers and grow its business. "We ultimately chose LeSaint as a 3PL partner because of its end-to-end turnkey solutions and sophisticated technological tools," Cusack said.
Currently, through its pick, pack and ship functions, LeSaint handles more than 8,000 sku's of Life Fitness parts in a single facility with global capability. Hundreds of orders are processed per day, all managed by LeSaint's technology WareTech™. Additional services include display monitor testing that has enabled Life Fitness to further save on costs and time. In addition, because replacement parts are shipped off-site, there is a clear separation of parts flow between manufacturing and after-market parts.
"Life Fitness is now able to focus its efforts on manufacturing and other segments of its business. As they grow their business, they can rely on LeSaint being their experts to grow with it and manage parts and inventory around the world," remarks Dino Moler, LeSaint's executive vice president of client services.
Cusack agrees that the partnership has made a significant and quick difference in Life Fitness's everyday order fulfillment as well as its overall global business strategy. "We have improved shipping rates with a greater ability to expand. LeSaint is poised to immediately handle any level of future expansion that we need," he notes, adding that the decision to outsource its parts business has proven beneficial. "LeSaint was a good match with our company."
