317 Colorful Carolinians Set Egg-cellent Guinness World Record at Carowinds Theme Park
Hundreds of Kids Celebrate Easter by Breaking Record for "Most People Dyeing Eggs"
CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- 317 guests at the Carowinds Theme Park in North Carolina celebrated Easter Weekend by setting a new Guinness World Record for the 'Most People Dyeing Eggs'. The record attempt kicks off a summer-long partnership between Guinness World Records® Live!, a dynamic new business which brings record breaking directly to the public, and Cedar Fair Entertainment, known for its world class amusement thrills and annual Easter Egg-stravaganzas.

The "colorful" family-friendly experience took place at the Plaza II Picnic Pavilion within the park, where festive Carolinian kids of all ages dipped and dyed eggs with determination to make their mark in the record books.
While the egg-dyeing category is a brand new record category for Guinness World Records, officials set the minimum requirement at 250 participants. Guinness World Records® guidelines stipulate that each participant must be equipped with at least one hard-boiled egg and spoon and enough dye to submerge his or her egg. Eggs must be dyed for exactly three minutes and then participants must simultaneously remove their eggs from the dye using their spoons. All eggs must be fully dyed and shown to the Guinness World Records® Adjudicator for approval.
"This event was the perfect way to kick off Guinness World Records Live's year-long partnership with Cedar Fair," said Stuart Claxton, U.S. Spokesman for Guinness World Records. "With fun, live record-breaking attempts continuing throughout the summer across the nation, families have a great opportunity to not only enjoy the rides but make the record books!"
The Cedar Fair summer of records continues at a variety of parks throughout the US this summer, where Guinness World Records® Live will be bringing the adrenalin rush of world record breaking to local theme parks. Record attempts are confirmed at Cedar Point, Knott's Berry Farm, Kings Island, Canada's Wonderland, Kings Dominion, Carowinds, Dorney Park, California's Great America, Worlds of Fun and Valleyfair.
Guinness World Records® Live! takes the magic of record-breaking straight to the fingertips of the public in an interactive, entertaining and accessible fashion. First developed in Dubai, the Guinness World Records interactive experience involves creating an environment where the public can attempt records and become genuine record holders instantaneously. Its mission is to entertain, educate and inspire people through a live Guinness World Records® experience; and to celebrate ordinary people achieving extraordinary feats.
