HOW Magazine's new concept is minimal, clear, confident, and inspirational, with an eye toward bringing the connectedness of the HOW brand back to the magazine. A major part of the redesign is the magazine's "START HERE" section, which invites readers to interact with the magazine. Each issue will feature key design leaders, tastemakers, award winners, or influencers who collectively push the industry of design forward. This is the magazine's biggest change since it was founded in 1985.
"What Andrew is creating is very, very exciting. Think of it as an explosion of creative inspiration. It will be different, but that difference will be captivating," - said Gary Lynch, Vice President/Community Leader , F+W Media.
Gibbs is now the youngest editorial director of a design magazine ever, which is a major accomplishment for the 29-year-old designer who grew up idolizing the publication. Gibbs' first issue, "The Outsiders Issue," (June 2015) focuses on how 10 outsiders ventured to the unknown frontiers of design to pursue wild ideas that lead to answers, ideas, and immense success.
"I grew up reading HOW," said Gibbs. "I'm excited to inspire the current and next generation of designers."
