120 Sports Makes Its Debut
HISTORIC NETWORK'S LIVE BROADCAST BEGINS TONIGHT AT 6PM ET
120 Sports App for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch available now
CHICAGO and NEW YORK, June 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The historic debut of 120 Sports (120Sports.com) happens today as the first-of-its-kind network partnership involving multiple leagues and media properties begins its seven-day-a-week live broadcast programming at 6:00 p.m. (ET). The 120 Sports app is available now as a free download from the Apple App Store on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
This new network was born from a never-before-seen consortium of media companies and content creators, including Time Inc./Sports Illustrated, Chicago-based digital sports media company Silver Chalice, MLB.com, the NHL, the PGA Tour, NBA, NASCAR and leading collegiate conferences via Campus Insiders (a joint venture between IMG College and Silver Chalice). The group will bring together unprecedented marketing prowess with the immediate ability to reach tens of millions of consumers through its varying collective of web, mobile and social distribution platforms.
RE-IMAGINED BROADCAST PRODUCTION
From its newly built production facility in Chicago, this state-of-the-art video and data product is developed natively for the digital devices consumers use most. Named 120 Sports for its concept of offering original sports broadcast production in a newly conceptualized two-minute format, the network's daily live broadcast will include hosted programming delivering timely narratives of the stories across every sport, featuring breaking news, video highlights and live look-ins, all integrated with social conversation, expert analysis and a new production style focused on the digital generation.
NEXT GEN USER INTERACTIVITY
The 120 Sports product boasts an all-encompassing multimedia experience through a new platform built by MLBAM to intuitively integrate video and data in ways consumers have never experienced. It allows users to customize their 120 Sports live experience based on topical preferences and receive up-to-the-moment alerts when a chosen subject matter hits the news cycle. These newly-developed Data Cards will feature the interaction of data, social sharing capabilities, live play-by-play access, photos, game and player stats and have been built for fluid navigation with easy-to-use controls while leaving the live and on-demand viewing experience uninterrupted.
LAUNCH PARTNERS DRIVE INNOVATION
GEICO, Nissan, Transamerica and Verizon Wireless are the official launch partners for 120 Sports. These four brands share the network's passion for finding unique ways to connect with a new generation of sports fans and a vision to provide content to this audience in a fresh, innovative format. Branded messaging for each launch partner will be created in real time and organically integrated into the hot topics of the 120 Sports viewing experience each day. Original branded features will also be intuitively published at contextually relevant times throughout the programming.
A FORMIDABLE TALENT LINEUP
A growing team of established and up-and-coming, digitally driven hosts, co-hosts, update reporters and analysts will be the face and voice of 120 Sports. The line-up includes former ESPN host Michael Kim, two-time Super Bowl champion Bryant McFadden, former Pro Bowl fullback Ovie Mughelli, former NBA All-Star Antoine Walker and former MLB All-Star pitcher Danny Graves. Additional talent from partners such as Sports Illustrated will contribute to 120 Sports programming. The complete roster of 120 Sports talent can be found at 120Sports.com.
"120 Sports has been years in the making, and as digital media consumption continues to grow, the time is right to launch a network that provides sports fans with a new way to consume their sports news and entertainment," said 120 Sports president Jason Coyle. "120 Sports will keep fans up-to-date on all sports as they happen, when and where they want it and at the pace they demand."
A Web-based 120 Sports experience also debuted today at 120Sports.com and across partner mobile and web destinations. An Android version of 120 Sports will be available through Google Play on Monday, July 14.
