'100 on 100': Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation Passes $100 Million in Funds Raised for Foundation's Endowment on President Reagan's 100th Birthday
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation announced today that on President Ronald Reagan's 100th birthday it has passed the $100 million mark it set for its endowment goal. The funds will ensure that President Reagan's Foundation, the sole organization established by President Reagan himself to preserve and promote his legacy, will continue its mission.
"We couldn't have asked for a better present on President Reagan's 100th birthday," said Frederick J. Ryan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation. "Just over two years ago, we set a steep goal of raising $100 million for an endowment that will ensure the Reagan Foundation and its work will live on in perpetuity. Today I am pleased to announce we have reached that goal! We are deeply grateful to all the people across America whose generous contributions have made this possible."
"Ronald Reagan, in his modesty made clear, this Presidential Library is not about one man," Fred Ryan continued. "It is clearly a testament to the fact that one man can make a difference. As Ronald Reagan said in his final address to the nation, 'We came to Washington to change a country and ended up changing the world.'"
"The heart of the Foundation's mission is ensuring that our next generation of leaders has the opportunity to learn about President Reagan and his impact on U.S. and world history," said John Heubusch, Executive Director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation. "As President Reagan himself once said to America's youth, 'We need you, we need your youth, your strength, and your idealism.'"
The endowment also goes towards vital services to maintain, expand and promote the Reagan Foundation and Library. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is the largest and most visited presidential library in the nation.
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation is located in Simi Valley, California and is a nonprofit organization dedicated to continuing the Reagan Legacy and sharing his principles. The Centennial Celebration will occur throughout 2011 and will offer Americans an opportunity to come together and pay tribute to the life and legacy of Ronald Reagan. www.reagancentennial.com
